Arima. Weddings with soul

· 21 January, 2022 · 11:35 am

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of designing and coordinating a wedding editorial with a wonderful team. I called it Arima, which in Basque means soul. Because for me, putting my soul into a wedding is the only guarantee of success. And each one of the professionals who wanted to join this project, followed me in the idea and gave themselves with energy and passion, giving everything good of themselves to achieve that: a wedding with soul.

The idea began to develop together with the photographer Esther Gamito who was in charge of documenting the session. And next to her the videographer Asier Requejo (click below to see the video). They are the two artists who can give an example of everything we did that autumn Saturday, which ended with the last rays of the sun falling on the farm. A great privilege.

As background we chose an incredible venue: Finca Bauskain, in Markina, with the invaluable help of Amanda, from Deluz Catering. This one is indeed a farm with a soul! History and tradition are behind the walls of this farmhouse surrounded by centuries-old forests. As background we chose an incredible venue: Finca Bauskain, in Markina, with the invaluable help of Amanda, from Deluz Catering. This one is indeed a farm with a soul! History and tradition are behind the walls of this farmhouse surrounded by centuries-old forests.

Catalina and Luan, a very special couple eager to show their love to the world, offered to let us do whatever we wanted with them. And so, the bride’s look was commissioned by Goiuri, the designer behind Atelier Soia Bridal. While the shoes are a Customeus Novias design.

Cristina, from Pincel y Sombra, and Pilar, from Marcel Arranz Peluquerías, were in charge of doing Catalina’s makeup and hair to make her look natural but perfect. As accessories, the bride wore a beaded headdress from La Unike Novias and simple and elegant earrings from González Larrauri Jewelry. For her preparations, we set up a very cozy little room in one of the dining rooms of the estate with rugs and cushions from Something Special.

The groom’s look (suit, shirt, vest, shoes and bow tie) was chosen in detail by Irma, from Aldabaldetreku tailor shop in San Sebastián. While the hat was courtesy of Sombreros Albero in Santander. For Luan and his preparations we arranged a little corner whose center was a wonderful closet that overflowed soul on all four sides.

The floral decoration was carried out by Ainhoa, from the Florist Avi Flor in Bilbao, who immediately grasped the idea and designed a wonderful bridal bouquet and the rest of the decoration in nude and pastel tones, giving the setting a romantic and natural air.

The design of the stationery was commissioned by Ainhoa, from AG Calligraphy, who, in addition to the invitations, menus and elements for the ceremony in those same natural tones, designed an original welcome sign.

On the other side, the ceremony, under one of the hundred-year-old trees that surround the farmhouse, was officiated by Aiala, from Azul Colibrí, who considered that the symbolism of the time capsule ritual was extremely appropriate for the idea that we wanted to convey.

For the rings, also from González Larrauri Jewelry, they made us a custom-made box in the workshop of the Eragintza Foundation’s Binding Occupational Center.

While the cake and sweets, for which we set up a nice corner, were the creation of Miren and Catalina (yes, the bride!) Lord Cupcake’s confectioners. And we can attest that in addition to being pretty, everything was delicious!

As I said at the beginning, the soul is the essence of everything, what gives life. That is why without soul, there can be no weddings. Without soul, there is no love, no work, no passion. The soul is what makes works like ours, so intangible, made from the heart for your enjoyment. Thank you and a thousand times thank you all for your participation, it was a pleasure and an experience working with you.
